USAG Development Program

The USAG Development Program is like a ladder for competitive gymnasts. It has different levels, from Level 1 to Level 10, where gymnasts of all ages can compete. In the program, gymnasts learn and practice skills on vault, bars, beam, and floor. They have routines to perform at competitions, where they can show what they've learned and compete against others their age. It's a structured way for gymnasts to improve, compete, and have fun while they learn new skills and make friends in the world of competitive gymnastics.

Pre-Team 1-6 hours/week

Our team program begins with the pre-team at Tier One Gymnastics, which is a non-competitive team aimed at preparing young athletes for future competitions. This program prioritizes building strong fundamentals, enhancing strength and flexibility, instilling confidence, and fostering independence. Gymnasts are carefully chosen for this program based on various factors, such as attitude, work ethic, desire, strength, and flexibility. Proper skill progressions and techniques are heavily emphasized, as they are crucial for long-term success in gymnastics. While time commitments are initially limited, they will gradually increase as gymnasts progress through the levels. Athletes in the pre-team will have the opportunity to showcase their skills at our annual spring showcase.

Compulsory Team 6-16 hours/week

Our compulsory team comprises competitive levels 3, 4, and 5, which progressively enhance skills developed in previous levels. Gymnasts must adhere to the styles and techniques outlined in the compulsory routines by USA Gymnastics, emphasizing form, posture, and presentation. These levels establish a strong foundation of basic skills while enabling athletes to vie for individual and team awards. Competitive opportunities span both local and out-of-state events, culminating in the state meet at the end of the season.

Optional Team 16-24 hours/week

The optional team consists of levels 6-10. These levels no longer compete in compulsory routines. At these levels, the gymnasts will begin performing more complex skills and combinations in routines designed specifically for the individual athlete. Gymnasts will be scored based upon their performance of level of difficulty, execution, artistry, and originality. Each level provides a new set of more difficult requirements on each event that must be included in each routine. Competitive opportunities are provided both locally and out of state with the regular season culminating at the state meet. In addition to the state meet, level 8 will have the opportunity to qualify for regional competition and levels 9/10 will have the opportunity to qualify for regional and national competitions.
